The Guinness Book of Records lists 410 feature-length film and TV versions of William Shakespeare’s plays as having been produced, making Shakespeare the most filmed author ever in any language.

Wikipedia lists 14 screen adaptations of  The Tempest for TV and film. In our creative process, two films can be highlighted:

  • The Tempest (2010), directed by Julie Taymor and featuring Helen Mirren in the role of Prospera.

  • The Tempest (1908), a Clarendon production directed by Percy Stow. It’s a short movie (12 minutes) believed to be the first adaptation of The Tempest to film.
