Wavelets Polinomiais: Uma Familia de Funções Splines para Aplicações em Processamento de Sinais e Imagens

Abstract:
In this paper, a family of polynomial wavelets generated from powers of sigmoid functions is presented. It is described how networks of wavelet units based on these functions can be constructed, through the appropriate definition of the function coefficients, and be applied to signal processing and image processing tasks. As an example of application for the method proposed, it is studied the problem of function approximation by neural networks of polynomial wavelets and the problem of image compression based on multi-resolution analysis.
