The foreground images are the result of a nonuniform fractal perturbation over a spline generated surface. The fractal perturbation can be modified in consonance with the control points, by means of a ``local fractal dimension". The implementation is a modification of the standard random midpoint displacement algorithm, which also interpolates the local fractal dimension.
The backgrounds are generated with a filtered convolution texture editor.
